Review by Bunson Honeydew from White Plains, NY:
I bought this in the early 1990's. One of my classmates in college was a big tea drinker. He made real tea each morning (he was Chinese) and this kept it piping hot for the early morning classes in the frigid temperatures. I bought one because I'm a coffee nut.
For those who commute, it's great to slip in your briefcase or larger handbag.
You have to follow the directions - put boiling water in it first and screw the cap shut. Let it sit for a few minutes and then drain. After that, you can put in what you want.
My wife has the Thermos brand of this. That works too, but I think the Nissan works a little better. Maybe it's just us.

This thermos is great. It keeps liquids hot for a very long time. It is a great size if you do not want a large bottle. I bought it for my husband to use at work. He sometimes has to eat breakfast at work; he uses this to make his oatmeal. He fills it up with hot water before he leaves, and then pours it over his oatmeal at work. He also uses it occasionally for coffee. He loves it.
I am thinking about getting one more to store hot water for tea. I drink a lot of tea throughout the day and I like to have hot water on hand, instead of always having to reheat it. I currently have a carafe to keep my hot water in, but this keeps the water much hotter, so I considering one for myself.
I also like that it is all stainless steel inside so that I do not have to worry about the toxins released from plastic. It does have plastic around the top, unfortunately, the water has to travel through it when pouring, but I have yet to find a carafe or thermos that does not have this. I wish someone would make one that is all stainless steel.

Review by Lawrence Charters from Columbia, MD USA:
Once called "Nissan bottles" before their purchase by Thermos, these stainless steel insulated bottles are highly prized by campers, boaters, climbers, and others who work in hazardous environments (daycare workers, teachers, office workers, beach bums...) They keep your drink or soup hot or cold and, in a pinch, you can use a Nissan bottle to fight off a raging elephant.
Review by Sally L. Taylor from Mystic, Connecticut:
This Nissan thermos is my second one-lost the first one after ten years of use, when it was still doing a beautiful job. this is a great product-and I recommend it. You can pour one handed, the liquid stays very hot for at least 12 hours-or equally cold.
Review by Rocky Yasubei from Hilo, Hawaii:
Like reviewer mommyofchristopher, I too bought the 17 oz. "Thermocafe" Thermos at Walmart. I have the Thermos/Nissan 34 oz. bottle, and it keeps things hot for the long periods other reviewers have found. The 17 oz. Thermocafe branded model is good for only 3 to 4 hours hot, then it gets noticeably cooler. A case of you get what you pay for?
New development: after one week of hot coffee, the pliable plastic/rubber stopper ring now has a terrible smell/taste that transfers to the coffee. Yikes! A strange plastic - burnt taste. I've soaked it in a bicarbonate of soda solution that has helped some, but not enough. I stopped using the "Thermocafe" Thermos, until I figure this one out. Could it be the coffee type? Is the stopper ring made of crappy materials?
