The worst ever! I wasted my week off between Christmas and New Years trying to get it to download transactions and to prevent it from crashing. It's now January 3 and it STILL will not work. Problem after problem. I have used the previous Quickens for years (never downloading though) and 2009 just plain does not work. Worse than the wasted money is the wasted time.

Like several other long-time Quicken users I have been very disappointed with the Quicken 2009 release. I upgraded from 2006 which I was very happy with but now I am considering a search for an alternative checkbook management program. Some of the disappointments:

1. The "upgrade" option for existing users turned out to be more expensive than buying as a new user.

2. The Savings Goals feature was dropped from Quicken Deluxe. I found one online poster saying it was in the Premium version but Quicken support didn't even give me that much help.

3. Both the program help and online help are very poor. Quicken's user forums are frequently offline.

4. The Home Inventory feature is a joke. This tool hasn't been updated since the mid-1990's.

I hope these is a financial "Firefox" out there that can save us from these Intuit and Microsoft behemoths.

Just purchased this product from a local store to use with Bank of America California -> will not download anything. Contacted BofA as directed by the quicken help message -> told by BofA that Quicken 2009 changed so many things that for the past month it doesn't even work anymore (i.e. DirectConnect) and that they're still trying to fix things... was told no problems with the 2008 version and use that instead for now. Oh well, agree with multiple prior reviews that wish this was better beta-tested with real users prior to full release.

I've been a Quicken user now for just about ten years and use it to simply track my checkbook and investments. It does what it's supposed to, however...

The graphics rendering capability is absolutely pathetic. Some of the investments I track have to be entered manually so I between Quicken and the website that contains my prices. Switching back to Quicken takes about 10-20 seconds for the window to redraw properly. With a half-dozen different investments with high/low/current pricing to manually enter, this takes a long time! Opening the calendar will take about a minute for it to quit redrawing everything. My computer is no slouch on the graphics side. If it can handle 1920x1200x24 World of Warcraft gaming, it should handle pie charts pretty easily. Not when Quicken is doing the drawing! After _finally_ getting a response from customer service, they said the only solution was to disable ALL of my graphics hardware acceleration.

If I can find another home financial package that will import all my historical data, I'd jump ship in a second. Save your money and look elsewhere!

Once again Intuit has become more greedy. Our economy is in a crises and most wages are droping. Instead of offering a basic version at a lower cost they are offering a deluxe version that for most of us is completely more than we require. It is cheaper to buy a Microsoft product that can last many years.
This comment also applies to Turbo Tax. Although I have used it for many years I am going to switch to Tax Cut. I hope more people will follow my example. If they do, Intuit stock will tank and my advice is for everyone to sell their stock and/or buy Puts.
