When I first received this magnifier lamp, I was shocked as to how big it was! This thing is absolutely huge in comparison to magnifiers I've seen at local stores. The lighting is good with separate fluorescent bulbs (also two separate switches). The magnification is a bit crude with heavy fringing effects at the edges of the lens - only really the dead center of the lens is clear. But for the price, this was to be expected unless you really want to spend several hundred dollars more on a really nice one. For the average hobbyist or for anyone who is slowly going blind, this lamp should do just fine.

They are nicely built, great florescence . I don't know if my eyes are getting old or if the magnification is a little sloppy. I bought two, One is better than the other though, so I don't know...

Bought this as a gift for my Dad. He is an avid coin collector. I had bought him a smaller one last year but it wasn't strong enough. He absolutely loves this one! He can place several coins on the bench and view them at the same time without needed to bring them up to the lens. Highly recommend this product!
