EasyGreen Clear Sprouter (Easy Green) - The Easy Seed Sprouter!

The EasyGreen sprouting appliance was developed out of the growing demand for organic health food. The EasyGreens unique technology empowers the individual to maintain a high potency immune system, by providing natural vitamins, mineral and enzymes that no other food or artificial supplements can rival. Here are few reasons for our unique sprouting technology: Seeds generate chemical heat during germination and need to be cooled to avoid mold and rotting. The EasyGreen uses a patented technology where mist and oxygen are applied simultaneously to the seeds, thus both cooling the seed's water and air and oxygenating the seeds and water. Sprouts require little water but abundant amounts of oxygen. Other automated sprouters and conventional sprouting methods supply plenty of water yet only provide natural air displacement. 1. Inhibitors in seeds are the natural defense mechanism of seeds acting as a deterrent for germs and bugs. Some sprouters re-circulate the same water! Your sprouts are then irrigated with water containing toxins and inhibitors, defeating the concept of using clean, good water for your sprouts. Bearing in mind that sprouts are made of 80% water, using clean water makes sense. The EasyGreen drains all used water out of the machine. 2. Sprouts are sensitive to environmental conditions and climate changes. For example, in warm, humid areas such as Florida, Hawaii, Brazil, it's virtually impossible to sprout with conventional methods. The EasyGreen works in all these areas year around! To the full satisfaction of our customers. 3. Managing and controlling the humidity within the machine is critical to the sturdiness of the sprouts. The EasyGreen uses a unique 96-activations timer, allowing the grower to fine-tune the machine to his or her specific environmental conditions. 4. Unlike the EasyGreen, other automatic sprouters do not have a built-in water reservoir and cannot select the source of water to use. The EasyGreen's built-in water reservoir is comp

Upon looking at this sprouter if seemed it would work great but seems like it suffers from serious design flaws and has not undergone some serious testing. The watering system is a mess, seeds gets watered unevenly and end up spoiling.
Do not waste your money. buy something simpler.
Thanks

I know sprouts are really healthy and I always liked them. Then I got wary after all the bad press about the e coli and and the molds, etc. So when I saw this product I figured it was a good solution. The unit is pretty big. The idea is that it will be sitting on your counter next to the sink. It is about 18" X 22" X 8". You can put several on top of each other for growing sprouts or wheatgrass. You need an outlet nearby to accommodate the timer. You can hook it up to your sink to take advantage of the automatic water feed from your faucet. There is also a plastic tube for the discharge water that would go into your sink. However, I didn't want this big plastic thing on my kitchen counter so I have it in the corner of the living room where we rarely are. Daily, I fill the container compartment with water and empty a gallon jar I have that holds the discharge hose. The unit itself runs on 7 timed intervals during the day for about 15 minutes each cycle. Initially, it mists the sprout seeds and eventually the mature sprouts that are on 4 trays. Each day you rotate the trays, not a big deal. In about 5 days you have edible sprouts. Each week you have to disinfect the machine. You need to clean the compartment where the seeds are and then fill the water compartment with 4 TBSP of bleach (or peroxide)and let the mister run for 2-3 hours. Then they ask you to add an additional 2 liters of water and let it run until the compartment is empty. This minimizes the risk of contamination. The air filter needs to be changed every 2-3 months depending on dust. Then 3 times a year a periodic cleaning is required. You unscrew the mist generator and clean the impeller shaft holes. They recommend scrubbing the machine inside and out preferrably in the bathtub. If you intend on stopping the use of the machine for 2 days or more, the water vapor accumulated in the mist generator area may lead to rust and malfunctioning. You need to empty the water from the tank, remove the air filter and using an air dryer, blow hot air thru the air intake area for about 3 minutes. Make sure the water compartment is dry. So basically, sprouting the seeds is the easy part but there is maintenance involved on the machine. You are not going to plug it in and forget about it forever. On the other hand, if you want healthy sprouts it beats my "rinsing the jar" method hands down, especially in the humid weather. It takes a little time each day, no time if you hook it up to your sink. I would say it is worth it to have the fresh sprouts.

I was interested in this product because I just become vegetarian, and need something to assure good quality raw food, freshness and variety. And this is a good solution. The product is great, well made. The timer works very well, the irrigation is good for all five trays. It is very very easy and fun to use. I like to watch the change on the seeds every day :), reminds me a little about my childhood. Any way, I definitly recomend this product. The only thing I thought that was missig, was the large trays, it comes only with the five little trays. ( Not so little any way). But this is very very nice. I love my easygreen, I am thinking in buying some more later. Dont think it twice, and buy yourself an easygreen.

I've been growing broccoli sprouts in this without a hitch. If you don't have it hooked up to a watering system, you'll have to refill the water in it everyday, but other than that mild inconvenience, it is very low maintenance. 5 days to grow delicious sprouts.
Review by Abayomi from Bermuda:
The product works very well. Using the timer I am able to have it function for up to 8 days without refilling. You will need to experiment with the on/off time periods for the product being sprouted to avoid mold. Access to the main tank for cleaning requires removing a set of screws - this could have been engineered a little better for easy access. Otherwise, I would have given this product 5 stars.
