This device does exactly what it was meant to do and does it well. It is a rather cheaply made device and I don't know how long the spring mechanism will last, but for occasional use it should last a lifetime. IT is easy to use and works well.

I tried measuring my waist with a regular sewing tape measure - it's very hard to read it, to hold it steady, and to know how much pressure to apply. You can easily get +/- 1" that way.
With the MyoType measure, it is lightly spring-loaded, so you don't need to guess at whether you're holding it correctly or not or applying the right pressure - you just wrap the tape around your body, press the little spring loaded retractor button, and read the measurement. I check this at least once a week to view results from my exercise and diet program - the results are very consistent, and I'm able to see my waistline gradually shrinking.

Great little tape measure that makes it easy to measure yourself, if you have ever tried to get an accurate measurement of your own biceps you know what I'm talkin' bout! good idea, I wish I'd thought of that.
