Sony SRF-59 FM/AM Radio Walkman with Sony MDR Headphones

Sony has included their MDR (micro dynamic receiver) headphones with the SRF-59. These headphones are open air type; the headphones will allow ambient noise to filter into the ear canal, providing a rich sound and keeping you safely aware of events, people and automobiles around you. The headphones provide ample dynamic range and sound. The Walkman requires only one AA battery, keeping the receiver lightweight and inexpensive to operate. When using a Sony alkaline battery, you can expect an impressive 100-140 hours of use. There is also a belt clip included, so you can carry the Walkman on your belt. The color is a sporty silver.
What's in the Box
Sony SRF-59 Walkman FM stereo, Sony MDR open air headphones, belt clip, user's manual and a ninety day warranty.
on the plus side: lighter, smaller, one aa that lasts longer than 2aaa (way cheaper), stereo sounds good when reception strong, no instant shut off when battery low to save presets (so you have some time to replace battery)
on the minus side: sounds bad when signal weak because it can't shift to mono (there should be a mono/st switch instead of local/distant), not as easy to jump from station to station.
DO NOT judge this radio by the low-fi headphones it comes with...it's capable of MUCH more. It drives my Sony 7506 phones with ease.
The sensitivity is very good on both AM and FM. Batteries last forever. It's really an amazing deal for this price. Sony could probably repackage some of the SRF-59 radios without the headphones, and sell even more of them for less money, since the supplied phones are of little use to many of us.
